Vascular Laser Treatments

Although harmless, broken capillaries and small red lines which may appear on nose, cheeks and chin are unsightly. Cause is thought to be hereditary and/ or linked to environmental damage and may be exacerbated by ingestion of caffeine, alcohol and spicy food although these are not causal. This damage can be safely and painlessly erased by laser treatment.

MySkin Laser Clinic Broken Capillaries Treatment

Using specific wave lengths MySkin Laser Clinics aestheticians apply laser light to the affected areas. The heat from the laser causes the walls of the broken capillaries to collapse inward and disappear leading to clear beautiful skin.

The destroyed capillaries are reabsorbed by the body with the surrounding tissue not affected.

One to four treatments may be required depending on client requirements

FAQs

  • What causes broken capillaries?

Capillaries are the tiny blood vessels just below the surface of the skin. They are extremely fragile, easily damaged and, until recently, difficult to repair.  As we age, they sometimes appear around the nose, cheeks and chin.  Whether caused by heredity or excessive exposure to sun and wind, their appearance can be aggravated by environmental factors such as spicy food or exercise, or by emotional responses.

  • How can laser treatment help?

Heat from the laser, applied directly to the affected area, breaks down the already damaged walls of the capillaries, causing them to collapse in on themselves.  The destroyed capillaries are then reabsorbed by the body, disappearing entirely.  The laser affects only the red area, leaving normal surrounding tissue unaffected.

Pre & Post Treatment

  1. Pre-Treatment Care

    • Stay out of the sun and solariums for at least two to four weeks before your treatment.  Use a sunscreen (SPF30+), applied hourly while you are exposed. Do not use any form of tanning throughout your treatment; this includes accidental sun exposure, such as driving and daily activities.
    • Sun exposure, before and after treatment, will increase the risk of complications or side effects, such as pigmentation and burns.
    • Do not use self-tan/spray for one to two weeks before your treatment. The procedure may have to be postponed if you have a tan.
    • Do not wax, pluck or bleach at least two to four weeks before and during your
treatment.
    • Do not use Retin-A for two weeks prior to treatment.
    • Do not use Roaccutane for six months prior to treatment.
  2. Post-Treatment Care

    • Apply Aspect Dr’s Redless to the treated body area twice per day for 5-7 days.
    • Redness is common for a couple of hours to a couple of days after treatment. The redness is a natural response and usually disappears within a few hours. In some cases it can last longer, but is unlikely to last more than two days. Regular application of ASAP daily moisturizer will dramatically improve recovery time.
    • Until redness has completely subsided, avoid performing activities that that cause excessive perspiration.
    • Avoid swimming pools and spas treated with chemicals or chlorine until the skin returns to its normal condition.
    • You may shower afterwards using lukewarm water, but avoid hot showers until the skin returns to its normal skin condition. Wash the treated area gently with mild, unscented soap and pat dry (do not rub).
    • In the unusual case of crusting, swelling of the skin, apply Aspect Dr’s Redless and please advise us immediately. Do not pick at these areas, as this may result in infection.
