The treatment involves multiple injections of a synthesised version of deoxycholic acid that can emulsify fat cells. This substance is already naturally occurring in our bodies digestive system, were it helps to break down dietary fat.
Most people will need a minimum of 2 treatments, spaced 6 weeks apart, some may require up to 6 treatments.
The solution injected below the skin can feel quite hot, moderately
uncomfortable, we apply a topical numbing cream as well as the use of ice packs, to increase patient comfort. Most discomfort passes before you leave the clinic.
The actual injection time only takes about 10-15mins, however your appointment will be 1 hour to allow time for consultation,application of numbing cream, photos and treatment.
There will be swelling, heat and redness in the treated area, however you can return to work the next day. The more swelling the better initially, as this inflammation will trigger collagen production, which also helps the skin to tighten and retract. It is recommended to not have the procedure within 2-3 weeks of any important event, as bruising is possible. You need to avoid strenuous activity for a few days following treatment, to reduce the chances of further swelling and bruising.
Results will be visible after 4-6 weeks and will improve more with each treatment.
